Chef at Your Shoulder is run by Janey Orr, a trained chef and food stylist with 20 years’ experience. She is calm and unflappable with an attention to detail and technical ability as well as a real understanding of current food trends.

Janey trained and then worked as a teacher at Leith’s School of Food and Wine, teaching students at every level. During her time at Leith’s, Janey developed her interest in food styling, recipe testing and recipe writing and editing. She worked extensively in the test kitchen, developing recipes for the School, as well as co-authoring Leith’s Easy Dinner Parties and contributing recipes to Leith’s Bible, which is still used today as the main textbook for the School. Janey styled the food for the photography for both these books, as well as for the very popular Leith’s Christmas.

Since her time at Leith’s Janey has continued to use her technical know-how and knowledge of current food trends to work in partnership with food businesses and other clients. She has worked for a variety of clients, including Nestlé, General Mills and BBC Magazines, now Immediate Media Co.
